About The Position

This role involves executing microbiological testing procedures to verify the commercial sterility of finished products and managing the Environmental Monitoring Program. The technician will also coordinate the storage, organization, and shipment of finished product samples, and execute the Water Testing Program. Responsibilities include performing sensory evaluations, creating Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and managing the communication process for product release. The role also entails coordinating verification, calibration, and maintenance routines for laboratory equipment, developing and validating testing methods, and coordinating external laboratory testing programs. Additionally, the technician will support the positive release process, contribute to root cause analyses and customer complaint investigations, and assist with general laboratory operations such as cleaning, organizing, and filing records. Ensuring the accuracy and compliance of all records and documents, maintaining the cleanliness of the FSQ Lab, and applying a continuous improvement mindset are key aspects of this position. The role also involves managing supply inventory and ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practices.

Requirements

  • Experience in food manufacturing or the beverage/ingredient industry preferred
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices
  • Knowledge of microbiological testing methods, including rapid and standard methods for food products
  • Experience with analytical/chemistry testing for food products (e.g., sugars, ash, moisture, pH)
  • Experience with food safety risk assessments, verification, and validation activities
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and software, including computers, tablets, productivity tools, and ERP systems
  • Knowledge of Gram staining and LIMS

Responsibilities

  • Execute microbiological testing procedures to verify commercial sterility of finished products
  • Execute the Environmental Monitoring Program
  • Coordinate storage, organization, and shipment of finished product samples
  • Execute the Water Testing Program
  • Perform sensory evaluations for finished products
  • Create Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and manage the communication process for product release
  • Coordinate verification, calibration, and maintenance routines for laboratory equipment and instruments across all labs
  • Develop and validate testing methods for raw materials and finished products
  • Coordinate external laboratory testing programs
  • Support and execute the positive release process for finished products
  • Contribute to root cause analyses and customer complaint investigations
  • Support laboratory operations by cleaning, organizing, filing records, and retrieving test results
  • Ensure all records and documents are complete, legible, accurate, and compliant with company procedures
  • Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of FSQ documentation practices
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and housekeeping of the FSQ Lab
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset and contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • Manage ordering and inventory control for supplies and reagents
  • Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices
  • Perform other assigned food safety and quality duties
