About The Position

The FSQ Supervisor leads day-to-day food safety and quality execution at the Monticello facility. This role is responsible for supervising quality personnel, maintaining floor presence, ensuring timely execution of food safety and quality activities, and supporting compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on execution, team leadership, and maintaining consistent application of established food safety and quality programs. The FSQ Supervisor partners closely with Operations and FSQ leadership and escalates opportunities for program improvements as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of food safety and quality systems within a food manufacturing environment, including GMPs, HACCP, environmental monitoring, sanitation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees while reinforcing accountability and consistent execution.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify issues, assess risk, and escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and respond with urgency in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across shifts and departments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow-through.
  • Ability to analyze trends and quality data to support operational decisions and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality-related systems and documentation tools.
  • Ability to influence and build working relationships across Operations, Production, Maintenance, and FSQ teams.
  • Working knowledge of audit readiness expectations and food safety recordkeeping practices.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Food Engineering, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety, quality, laboratory, sanitation, or food manufacturing operations.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting food safety and quality programs including environmental monitoring, investigations, corrective actions, and documentation practices.
  • Working knowledge of food manufacturing regulatory and audit expectations (FDA, USDA, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, Food Safety Plans).
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Operations and Production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and develop Quality Technicians across assigned shifts.
  • Manage employee scheduling, attendance tracking, work assignments, and daily coverage needs.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of FSQ employees.
  • Establish clear expectations and reinforce accountability for food safety and quality execution.
  • Maintain routine floor presence to verify compliance with food safety, quality, sanitation, and GMP standards.
  • Ensure timely execution of environmental monitoring, product sampling, inspections, testing, and verification activities.
  • Investigate food safety and quality concerns and ensure appropriate escalation and follow-up.
  • Verify completion of corrective actions and support containment activities when issues arise.
  • Monitor food safety and quality documentation to ensure records remain complete, accurate, and audit ready.
  • Support customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
  • Partner with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve issues and reduce food safety and quality risks.
  • Support startup readiness, pre-operational verification, and sanitation effectiveness activities.
  • Monitor execution of established food safety and quality programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support implementation of approved process improvements and standard work updates.
  • Review quality metrics and communicate trends, concerns, and action items to leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
