The engineer will work closely with UI/UX designers, product stakeholders, backend engineers, and other developers to turn designs and requirements into responsive, intuitive, production-ready applications. Success means delivering interfaces that are intuitive, accessible across devices and audiences, well tested, and maintainable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience developing production web applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern React development, including hooks, reusable components, and composition patterns.
  • Strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript development skills.
  • Strong HTML and CSS fundamentals, including semantic markup, responsive design, layouts, and accessibility.
  • Experience integrating front-end applications with REST/JSON APIs.
  • Experience managing asynchronous application behavior, including loading states, error handling, pagination, and authenticated requests.
  • Experience developing automated unit and component tests using Vitest, Jest, React Testing Library, or comparable tools.
  • Experience with end-to-end testing technologies such as Playwright, Cypress, or comparable frameworks.
  • Professional experience using Git in a collaborative software development environment, including branching and code-review workflows.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines as part of modern software-development and deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with modern build and package-management technologies such as Vite, npm, or Yarn.

  • Experience with Material UI (MUI), USWDS, Sass, StyleX, or similar front-end technologies.
  • Experience working closely with UI/UX designers to translate designs into reusable production components.
  • Experience building complex forms or data-intensive user interfaces involving filtering, searching, tables, or data visualization.
  • Experience with technologies such as Zod, TanStack Form, or TanStack Table.
  • Experience with front-end state-management technologies such as Zustand or comparable tools.
  • Familiarity with reactive development patterns or technologies such as RxJS.
  • Experience with modern TypeScript development patterns, including discriminated unions, exhaustive matching, or typed functional programming.
  • Experience with Astro or another static-site generation framework.
  • Experience deploying front-end applications within AWS environments, including Amazon S3 and CloudFront.
  • Familiarity with SSO, authentication, authorization, or edge-authentication patterns.
  • Experience supporting applications within federal government, regulated, or security-conscious environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain production web applications and user interfaces using React and TypeScript.
  • Develop reusable React components using modern patterns, including hooks and component composition.
  • Translate UI/UX designs and product requirements into responsive, accessible, production-ready applications.
  • Build interfaces using semantic HTML and modern CSS practices, and develop maintainable styling solutions.
  • Work with UI/UX designers to refine user flows, maintain visual consistency, and ensure designs can be effectively implemented.
  • Integrate front-end applications with REST/JSON APIs and backend services.
  • Implement asynchronous application behavior, including loading states, error handling, pagination, and authenticated requests.
  • Develop automated unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Participate in Git-based software development workflows involving branching, merge requests, pull requests, code reviews, and release processes.
  • Work with CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing, application builds, and deployment.
  • Use modern front-end build tools and package-management technologies.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and evaluate implementation approaches based on usability, maintainability, performance, schedule, and technical constraints.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers, systems engineers, analysts, product stakeholders, and other technical team members.
