Frontend Engineer - Alerts and Operations
About The Position
Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management. The Alerts and Operations team is responsible for building and maintaining the end-to-end systems for Events, Alerts and Notifications, processing upwards of 500 million events weekly from over a million devices worldwide. Our systems process real-time events from Verkada's global device fleet, delivering intelligent, actionable alerts through multiple channels including email, SMS, push notifications, and webhooks. In 2025, we launched Operations, a suite of features designed for customers monitoring critical infrastructure with dedicated security teams, starting with enhanced collaboration tools and expanding integration capabilities. We're actively exploring how AI can help customers use our products more efficiently and respond more effectively to events, while continuing to improve the core reliability and intelligence of our alerting systems.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or similar technical field of study
- 2+ years of professional experience as a frontend/full stack engineer
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React.
- Solid understanding of web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, DOM APIs, browser performance, accessibility).
- Experience building reusable components, utilizing CSS pre-processors and building pixel perfect user interfaces
- Experience with state management tools (Redux, MobX, etc.) and asynchronous programming
- Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week
Responsibilities
- Build scalable systems that deliver our event and notification experience to the end user, including alert creation and management
- Create state of the art alert response workflow that prioritizes privacy while protecting people and properties
- Comfortable leading whole projects from design to implementation with high degree of ownership
- Work on cross-product functionality to enhance Verkada ecosystem
