About The Position

Xona is the navigational intelligence company bringing real-time, centimeter-level certainty to any device, anywhere on Earth. With Pulsar – the world’s most advanced PNT satellite infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit – Xona will offer a future-proof, backwards-compatible global positioning system optimized for absolute precision, superior power, and robust protection. Xona is building the next generation of satellite navigation — a high-performance, resilient alternative to GPS powered by a commercial constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, aiming to redefine Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) from the ground up. The Frontend Developer is responsible for the prototyping, development, and delivery of Xona’s Customer Portal, which offers PNT services to various markets. This role is based in Xona’s Montréal office and operates within a 4D product design process, requiring close collaboration with the Product Manager, UX Designer, and Software Developers. This is the first frontend development position within the company, offering an opportunity for growth into a senior or leadership role as Xona’s products expand globally.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in frontend, design or fullstack roles
  • Expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript (React native, Next.js, Vue.js)
  • Autonomous deploying web applications & managing dependencies
  • Proven record shipping rich web apps at scale on Cloud infrastructure
  • Experience in Frontend testing, API testing, automations
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site in Montréal

Nice To Haves

  • Power users with design toolkit (Figma, Framer)
  • Experience with SEO, Web analytics platform (Pendo, Posthog)
  • Familiarity with Maps engines (Mapbox) and geospatial data
  • Prior exposure to startup organizations
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the confidence to navigate unstructured environments

Responsibilities

  • Validate design decisions with fast prototypes, leveraging modern techniques like vibe-coding (e.g., AI-assisted prototyping)
  • Own the Design–Dev handoffs— catch gaps early, assess feasibility, estimate before scope gets locked
  • Build a component library, aligned with the design system
  • Own frontend code including query structuring, caching strategy, and error handling
  • Integrate with AWS, GraphQL, REST API and MCP servers
  • Own the quality of the web application with API & end-to-end testing
  • Contribute to Product discovery, UX Design, API definition
  • Ensure accessibility reviews throughout development, support various device sizes
