This position is responsible for answering, handling and screening incoming telephone calls; greeting and registering patients, filing and preparing charts. In addition, this position is responsible for check-out functions, including review of encounter form data, collection of co-payments, scheduling follow-up appointments; completing daily bank deposit; day-end reconciliation duties. Some locations also require this position to complete charge/receipt-entry and charge-receipt summaries for all office-related services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED degree (Required)
  • 3 - 4 years experience in a related field (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Answering, handling and screening incoming telephone calls
  • Greeting and registering patients
  • Filing and preparing charts
  • Performing check-out functions, including review of encounter form data, collection of co-payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Completing daily bank deposit
  • Performing day-end reconciliation duties
  • Completing charge/receipt-entry and charge-receipt summaries for all office-related services (for some locations)
  • Demonstrating flexibility and taking initiative in seeking or accepting additional assignments
  • Scheduling patient appointments
  • Informing department of issues
  • Accurately inputting patient registration information and updating patient insurance and demographic information
  • Accepting payments and logging appropriately
  • Demonstrating courtesy and respect toward families, community professionals and agencies, office personnel and team members
  • Following JCAHO and HIPAA protocols; access to patient information will be limited to what is necessary to perform the job
  • Handling patient complaints and referring to manager as appropriate
