Requirements

• Minimum of one year of front office experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred
• Knowledge of insurance rules and regulations
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of HIPAA Guidelines
• Knowledge of computer scheduling systems

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in collecting money is preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Preparing new patient paperwork
• Identifying and collecting co-payments, co-insurances, and past-due account balances
• Evaluating patient financial status and establishing payment plans
• Screening upcoming and follow-up appointments for required referrals and/or authorizations
• Ensuring all required referrals and/or authorizations are scanned into the patient’s chart and attached to the correct appointment(s)
• Maintaining a secure and accurate cash drawer, ensuring the cash box always has the prescribed amount
• Daily balancing of cash drawer and closing batch
• Maintaining strictest patient confidentiality
• Greeting and acknowledging all new and returning patients
