About The Position

Kimpton's Manager in Training (MIT) program is designed to allow participants to apply and develop their management and leadership skills, tailored to their specific career goals in the hospitality industry. The program provides a strong foundation in operational knowledge and leadership experience, preparing individuals for junior management positions within Kimpton. Upon completion, participants will be proficient and equipped with the necessary leadership skills to guide, coach, and motivate a team to exceed guest expectations and foster professional growth.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality Administration, Business Administration, or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in hospitality, service, or a customer-facing role with some leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly training sessions from various hotel and restaurant management disciplines, known as "Lunch and Learns."
  • Participate in additional monthly training classes as part of Kimpton University.
  • Engage in all city volunteer activities and at least one Kimpton Group activity.
  • Train in all departments and shadow/experience various positions.
  • Take on responsibilities outside of the job description as needed, as is common at Kimpton.
  • Provide quality guest services including registration and check-out, PBX operations, and mail/message service.
  • Review arrivals, noting special requests and blocking rooms accordingly.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and knowledgeably, ensuring complete and accurate information.
  • Complete all items on appropriate checklists (AM, PM, Overnight) by the end of the shift.
  • Conduct pre-assignment of hotel rooms, including VIPs, repeat guests, packages, and special requests.
  • Ensure credit policies are followed.
  • Submit all lost & found articles with a corresponding report.
  • Open, secure, and balance the daily shift bank, verifying cash, check, and credit card transactions.
