About The Position

The Front Office Assistant performs a variety of clerical duties and front office operations in support of patient care activities, ensuring even patient flow and continuous communication within the department, referring physician offices, and organization staff. This role involves courteous interaction with patients, their family members or surrogate decision makers, and the public according to established standards. The assistant may collect copays, close the cash drawer, and prepare month-end deposits. Key responsibilities include collecting initial demographic and clinical patient information and accurately entering it into the medical record, compiling and preparing charts, and assisting with patient scheduling (confirmations, cancellations, rescheduling). Prompt communication of schedule changes to all appropriate locations and individuals, including clinical staff/supervisors, is essential. The role requires maintaining accurate information and utilizing various software for scheduling, entering charges, finding and scanning documents, and accurately entering patient information. Ensuring patient charts have all required paperwork prior to procedures and ordering patient tests as directed by medical staff are also part of the duties. The position may require working in various departments, assisting clinical staff with patients and family members, and always maintaining patient confidentiality. Participation in the continuous quality improvement process and performing other assigned duties are expected.

  • Assist with coordination and execution of patient scheduling, including confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling.

  • Ensure patient charts have all required paperwork prior to procedures.
