The Front Office Assistant performs a variety of clerical duties and front office operations in support of patient care activities, ensuring even patient flow and continuous communication within the department, referring physician offices, and organization staff. This role involves interacting courteously with patients, their family members or surrogate decision makers, and the public. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering telephones, potentially collecting copays, closing the cash drawer, and preparing month-end deposits. The assistant will collect initial demographic and clinical patient information, accurately entering it into the medical record, and compiling/preparing charts. They will assist with patient scheduling, including confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling, ensuring prompt communication of schedule changes. The role requires maintaining accurate information and utilizing various software for scheduling, entering charges, finding/scanning documents, and accurately entering patient information. Ensuring the patient chart has all required paperwork prior to procedures and ordering patient tests as directed by medical staff are also key duties. The position may work in various departments as needed, assisting clinical staff with patients and family members, always maintaining patient confidentiality. Participation in the continuous quality improvement process and performing other assigned duties are expected.
