About The Position

JP Mascaro & Sons, a growing private family-owned company, is seeking reliable, motivated, and hardworking Front Load Drivers for its Berks County Division in Reading, PA. This role is critical to the solid waste collection team, ensuring the safe and responsible removal of community trash and recycling. The company has a family-like environment and has experienced significant growth since its founding in 1964. Requirements

  • A valid PA Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B or equivalent) with air brake endorsement.
  • Must meet all required DOT physical and medical requirements.
  • Pass a substance abuse screening.
  • Ability to effectively deal with customers and co-workers.
  • Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle to prevent damage to truck, equipment, or surrounding items.
  • Ability to sit in the cab of the truck for long periods.
  • Able to bend, stoop, and climb into and out of the vehicle and body unassisted multiple times a day.
  • Ability to push/pull heavy wheeled containers requiring heavy pushing/pulling force.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
  • May be required to exit and enter truck multiple times during a shift and may be required to push/pull wheeled containers weighing up to several hundred pounds into position for pick up.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a front load trash truck in accordance with DOT Regulations, Company policy, and established standards for excellent customer service on established subscription routes or municipal territories.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the truck and manage assigned helpers.
  • Transport and dump municipal wastes at a regulated transfer station or approved landfill.
  • Coordinate regularly with the Route Supervisor, Dispatch, or Operations Manager to ensure all stops are picked up, receive special instructions, and communicate any questions.
  • Obtain load weight tickets, sign for loads, and maintain required records such as driver’s log, route sheets, work orders, special request work, and missed pick-up logs.
  • Clean the truck daily, including the cab, to meet company expectations and ensure no trash remains after route completion.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as outlined in the pre and post-trip vehicle condition report.
  • Report any maintenance issues on the vehicle condition report (VCR) immediately to the route supervisor or operations manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
