About The Position

The Federated IT team for the Division of Residential and Hospitality Services (RHS) is responsible for coordination of all technology needs for RHS. The Front End Web Developer will primarily maintain and improve existing in-house websites and applications, ensuring consistency of user experience and compliance with MSU Branding standards, best-practices, and MSU Accessibility policy. This role also involves front-end development of new websites, applications or features, assisting colleagues with operations and development, and collaborating with operations and development staff to solve problems and implement solutions. Other duties may be assigned, including possible out-of-hours work for emergent web issue resolution. This position is on-site during onboarding and may transition to a hybrid schedule. Scheduled hours and on-site/remote schedule may vary based on business unit needs. Requirements

  • Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college.
  • One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in architecture, standards-compliant website design and development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience, or coursework in web development or design specialization.
  • Strong working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Familiar with a content management systems (Drupal preferred).
  • Version control using GIT.
  • A web development language such as PHP.
  • Front end development frameworks such as JQuery, React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Wire-framing and prototyping applications like Figma or Adobe XD.
  • WCAG accessibility requirements for the web.

Responsibilities
