About The Position

Versant is seeking a Front-end Developer to join their Creative Operations team. This role will focus on building intuitive, production-focused tools for creating, managing, and deploying real-time graphics, initially supporting Versant’s growing sports portfolio. The developer will create web-based interfaces connecting graphics workflows with live statistical data across various sports properties. The role offers opportunities to deepen experience with APIs, backend services, and real-time data workflows, supporting growth across the full technology stack. Creative Operations manages company-wide Sync software and backend infrastructure, and the tools developed will help establish scalable workflows for Versant’s expanding sports portfolio and advance live production capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience developing modern web applications using technologies such as React, Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience integrating applications with APIs and real-time communication technologies such as REST, gRPC, or WebSockets.
  • Familiarity with development environments and tools such as Visual Studio Code or JetBrains Rider.
  • Experience with source control and collaborative software development workflows using GitHub or comparable tools.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Go, Bash, or Python.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience working within Agile development practices.
  • Comfort developing and troubleshooting across Mac/Linux and Windows environments.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical partners in production-focused environments where reliability and responsiveness matter.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with AI platforms, libraries, or models such as Google Gemini, Vertex AI, ChatGPT, or Anthropic.
  • Experience managing Agile development work through tools such as Jira.
  • Knowledge of databases and caching technologies such as MongoDB or Redis.
  • Exposure to backend or server-side technologies including C#, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, or Argo CD.
  • Experience with real-time graphics platforms such as Viz Engine or Unreal Engine.
  • Experience supporting newsroom, sports, broadcast, or live show production environments, including tools such as Fonn Saga or Avid iNEWS.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and enhance intuitive web-based interfaces that allow production teams to create, manage, review, and control real-time graphics.
  • Partner with graphics and production teams working in Viz Engine and Unreal Engine to understand workflows, identify needs, and translate them into reliable production tools.
  • Integrate front-end applications with backend services, sports data providers, and APIs to support accurate and timely data-driven graphics.
  • Contribute across the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, prototyping, development, testing, QA, deployment, and production support.
  • Help ensure tools perform reliably in live production environments by troubleshooting issues, improving workflows, and collaborating with technical and production stakeholders.
  • Build solutions with scalability and maintainability in mind as Versant’s sports and enterprise production needs evolve.
