About The Position

As a Front Desk Supervisor with Under Canvas, you are responsible for the operation of the Front Desk and the supervision of the Camp Concierges and Night Auditors. You will engage with guests from the moment they arrive on site through the duration of their stay. Your goal is to ensure our guests have everything they need to relax and enjoy being outside together with family, friends, and nature. We cater to a diverse range of guests, including groups, families, and individuals varying in age, interests, and degrees of comfort with outdoor elements. This is a seasonal, hourly position and includes team member housing for the duration of employment.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet deadlines and scheduling needs.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity, and wind.
  • Ability to independently lift a minimum of 45 lbs.
  • Extensive walking, standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and maneuvering in an outdoor environment on uneven surfaces.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of prior supervisory experience.
  • Experience in and/or ability to utilize POS and reservation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain composure, take action, be resourceful, and remain solutions-minded in unpredictable situations such as weather, diverse guest needs, or incidents on property.
  • Provide clear, accurate, complete, and timely communication.
  • Learn and share your knowledge of local culture, activities, and adventure opportunities.
  • Anticipate workflow and appropriately delegate tasks.
  • Independently resolve guest recovery situations while the Assistant General Manager or General Manager is not present.
  • Find ways to streamline processes to maximize efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Create a warm welcome for guests and visitors.
  • Greet and check in guests at the reception desk before assisting them with transportation to their tent, taking them on a tour of the camp, and showcasing our amenities, activities, and food and beverage services.
  • Use a positive attitude, ability to listen to guests, and ability to predict and respond to their needs in a timely manner throughout their stay to lead to consistently positive guest feedback.
  • Participate in weekly and daily meetings to ensure the Camp Concierges and Night Audit team are well informed about activities offered on site and off site, upcoming events or groups, and any special events or arrivals.
  • Reconcile accounting ledgers, make accounting adjustments, process credit cards, and prepare billing.
  • Ensure you are working efficiently with available resources.
  • Meet deadlines and scheduling needs.
  • Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, and coaching employees.
  • Properly assign rooms based on inventory, requests, and guarantees.
  • Lead the Front Desk team in Under Canvas sustainability efforts.
  • Work with the Housekeeping Supervisor to ensure all lost-and-found items are properly handled.
  • Develop and maintain great relationships among team members and create a warm, fun environment where all feel welcome and appreciated.
  • Other duties as assigned.
