About The Position

The Front Desk Safety Attendant position will be required to answer the office phone, meet, greet, screen, direct, and address the myriad needs of customer, clients, vendors, contractors, delivery people, and others who approach the front desk throughout the day. Further, they are responsible for ensuring the safety of clients, staff, vendors, volunteers, and other visitors at their assigned location. This role focuses on de-escalation, crisis prevention, and maintaining a trauma-informed approach to safety while promoting a secure environment. This role is not an extension of law enforcement but serve as proactive safety professionals in a supportive capacity. The safety function at the Coalition is not an extension of a law enforcement agency and should not act as such. While cooperation with such agencies is encouraged, Coalition safety associates are not empowered to detain persons unless an illegal act has occurred on Coalition property. The safety function is not a transportation/escort service for other agencies and safety staff should not use Coalition vehicles for such transportation.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required. This requirement may be waived, if necessary, based on overall candidate experience and current needs of the business and/or role.
  • Sound critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Consistently superb customer service skills; excellent interpersonal/assertive communications skills demonstrating a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner as a member of a site team.
  • Relate professionally with vendors, contractors, staff, co-workers, residents, visitors; Communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in a direct human services role preferred.
  • Relevant experience in customer service.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant experience in customer service may substitute for formal education.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors building entry/exit points.
  • Controls residents, visitors, applicants, and vendor’s access into the building.
  • Utilize customer service skills.
  • Keep work area clean and organized throughout entire shift.
  • Communicate in writing to building management and staff issues concerning events that took place during your shift. Including but not limited to issues/concerns related to security, maintenance, visitors and resident’s behavior.
  • Responsible for supervising the building when management is not available or not on duty.
  • Remain at the front desk location at all times, unless specific resident or staff requires your absence from front desk location.
  • Act as a representative of the company at all times.
  • Maintain key control at all times.
  • Comply with all Fair Housing laws.
  • Assess and make recommendations to management regarding training needs.
  • Maintains a work environment that is marked by respect for others; that values inclusiveness and builds workforce diversity; and that fosters cooperation and teamwork.
  • Help maintain property management software (Onesite) as directed by property manager.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the location to ensure a safe environment.
  • Assist staff in assessing potentially dangerous situations and intervene as necessary to prevent escalation.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with CCH safety procedures.
  • Provide assistance in crisis situations requiring physical intervention while adhering to trauma-informed principles.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and emergency healthcare personnel as needed.
  • Document and submit reports on all incidents involving physical intervention.
  • Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Participate in and apply knowledge from ongoing safety and de-escalation training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
