About The Position

Volunteers of America–Greater New York (VOA–Greater New York) is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Through 70+ programs, they support over 35,000 adults and children each year, including individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, youth aging out of foster care, veterans, seniors, and children with developmental delays. The organization's staff are dedicated to creating meaningful change. The Front Desk Monitor position involves answering telephone calls, taking messages for staff, receiving and assisting visitors, receiving and routing deliveries, aiding residents, and controlling front door access. The role is based at Legacy Family Residence, a transitional family shelter where residents learn essential life skills.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Must possess good interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge.
Security License
Fire Guard (F-02)

Responsibilities

Greet all visitors; assist them directly or announce their arrival to staff or residents.
Ensure that all clients sign in and out as required.
Route mail and deliveries as required.
Handle or assist in crisis intervention.
Follow assigned procedures in emergency situations.
Conduct rounds at residence as assigned.
