Temporary Front Desk Coordinator

Community Economic Defense ProjectDenver, CO
Onsite

About The Position

The Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) is a Colorado-based nonprofit launched in 2020 as the COVID-19 Eviction Defense Project. Our mission is to partner with low-income and working people to build economic and racial equity by confronting economic abuse and investing in community wealth. We use legal, economic, and advocacy tools to challenge unjust systems. Our team serves over 1,000 people per month, combining housing lawyers, economists, data analysts, policy experts, organizers, and technologists. We have served over 68,000 low-income Coloradans, distributing over $280 million in emergency assistance, and have contributed to significant legislation. CEDP's model has been recognized as a best practice by the White House and HUD. Building on our eviction prevention work, CEDP has expanded its integrated services to include disaster response, predatory towing, debt collection, benefit access, rental assistance, and homelessness response. These efforts provide a continuum of care including navigation, advisory services, targeted payments, legal support, and advocacy. This is an in-person, client-facing position with approximately 70% of the role focused on direct client interaction and about 30% focused on front office operations and administrative support. The Front Desk Coordinator typically supports 30-40 clients per day, with certain events experiencing higher volume, 80-100 clients per day. Clients come from diverse backgrounds and may be navigating stress, crisis, or trauma. The Front Desk Coordinator approaches each person with empathy and respect, while maintaining boundaries, following safety protocols, and applying de-escalation for challenging situations. Experience working with communities that have faced barriers to services is highly valued. Bilingual English/Spanish skills and/or relevant lived experience are strongly preferred.
