About The Position

This role involves operating presses, sanders, and common hand tools in a safe and efficient manner. The operator will be responsible for measuring and weighing friction compounds according to work instructions and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The position also requires active participation in continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying and eliminating waste using Lean Manufacturing concepts and Kaizen principles. Other duties may be assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Positions parts
  • Operate presses, sanders, and common hand tools.
  • Position parts according to work instructions or following blueprints.
  • Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners as applicable.
  • Remove small quantities of material with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
  • High school diploma/general education degree (GED) and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to six months of employment experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 100% safety focused.
  • Ability to read detailed work instructions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and Lean principles.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Mechanical or machinery related experience and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate presses, sanders, and common hand tools in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Measure/weight friction compounds in compliance with work instructions.
  • Keep and promote a clean, safe work environment.
  • Position parts according to work instructions or following blueprints.
  • Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners as applicable.
  • Remove small quantities of material with hand files and scrapers to produce close fit between parts.
  • Participate in and support Carlisle Operating System (COS) initiatives.
  • Participate in COS events to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Work with management team to identify continuous improvement projects utilizing lean and six sigma principles to drive operational excellence and improve profitability.
  • Work with management team to promote waste identification and elimination by utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles of Kaizen.
  • Other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor or Plant Manager.
