About The Position

Alpha Academy seeks a French Teacher to teach at the high school level in Fayetteville, NC. The role involves planning, organizing, and presenting instruction to help students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their educational and social development. Key responsibilities include managing instructional time, student behavior, and presenting lessons effectively. The teacher will also monitor student performance, provide feedback, facilitate instruction aligned with curriculum goals, and interact positively with students, colleagues, parents, and the community. Non-instructional duties and adherence to established policies are also expected, along with a commitment to professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree.
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a NC teaching license in French (K-12).
  • Bilingual French/English.
  • Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, pencils, scissors, and equipment for children with special needs.
  • Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students, particularly when student is participating in an inclusive activity.

Responsibilities

  • Management of Instructional Time: Ensure materials, supplies, and equipment are ready; get the class started quickly; get students on task quickly; maintain high student time-on-task.
  • Management of Student Behavior: Establish rules and procedures for routine matters, student participation, movement, and transitions; monitor behavior and address inappropriate behavior promptly and consistently while maintaining student dignity.
  • Instructional Presentation: Review previous materials; introduce new lessons and objectives; speak fluently and precisely; use understandable concepts and language; provide relevant examples and demonstrations; assign tasks with a high success rate; ask appropriate questions; conduct lessons at a brisk pace, adjusting as needed; make smooth transitions; clarify assignments; summarize main points.
  • Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Maintain clear, firm, and reasonable work standards and due dates; circulate to check student performance during class work; use oral, written, and other work products to check progress; pose questions clearly and one at a time.
  • Instructional Feedback: Provide feedback on in-class work to encourage growth; provide prompt feedback on out-of-class work; affirm correct responses; provide sustaining feedback after incorrect responses or no response.
  • Facilitating Instruction: Maintain an instructional plan compatible with school and system-wide curricular goals; use diagnostic information to develop and revise objectives/tasks; maintain accurate student performance records; align objectives, learning strategies, assessment, and student needs; utilize available resources.
  • Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly and equitably; interact effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
  • Performing Non-Instructional Duties: Carry out assigned non-instructional duties; adhere to laws, policies, rules, and regulations; follow a plan for professional development and demonstrate growth.
