About The Position

As the Freight Planner, you will oversee OTM planning and optimization analyses to determine least cost routing and answer other strategic transportation questions for the business. You will work a critical interface between Customer Service and the Warehouse and will assist with the order release process for order fulfillment. You will be based onsite at PPG's Springdale, PA plant and report to the Logistics Manager.

Requirements

High School Diploma required
1+ years of experience related transportation planning with a 3PL or manufacturing/retail warehousing
Strong customer service, problem solving, issue resolution, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

Bachelors in Logistics, Supply Chain field preferred
Experience with the following systems is preferred - Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) and SAP, Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams.

Responsibilities

Review cost savings opportunities for the business and the customer
Coordinate with carriers to track trucks for pick-up, estimating times of arrival and delivery, and recovering loads
Consider alternative carriers based on time to delivery and cost before taking action
Update daily logs and tracker
Use different transportation software platforms to facilitate shipment execution
Find opportunities to consolidate LTL shipments into truckloads to save on transportation costs.
Work with facility and customer service to determine timing of load completion to supply the best possible pick-up time for contracted carrier.
Identify and escalate transportation issues for quick resolution and corrective action
Help with the order release process for the warehouse
