About The Position

The Brokerage Coordinator generates brokerage revenue and assists with various tasks within the brokerage area. This role involves contacting potential and existing customers to solicit new brokerage business lines, developing relationships with shippers and/or truck lines to generate additional revenue, and arranging transportation using the brokerage fleet. The coordinator analyzes brokerage business to identify opportunities, negotiates rates for profitability, and utilizes computer systems for rate negotiation, booking loads, and tracking. They also handle customer inquiries, resolve shipping errors, track freight activity, and process billing exceptions and freight claims. Additionally, the role supports general office functions, maintains customer files, and works with specific systems to ensure data accuracy.   • 1 year minimum of logistical or dispatch experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contacts potential and existing customers to solicit new brokerage business lines.
  • Develops relationships with shippers and/or truck lines to generate additional revenue.
  • Works with Inbound Freight to arrange transportation using the brokerage fleet.
  • Analyzes all brokerage business to determine if there are additional opportunities and negotiates rates to ensure profitability.
  • Utilizes computer systems to negotiate rates, book loads, track, and follow up with driver and customer on brokerage contracts.
  • Answers questions, resolves shipping errors, tracks freight activity from pick-up to delivery, and researches related problems.
  • Assists the department in general office functions including answering incoming calls, performing customer service, handling problems, making copies, monitoring incoming faxes, compiling and distributing paperwork, and data entry.
  • Processes billing exceptions and freight claims including lumper fees, detention, shortages, and damaged product to ensure proper freight charges.
  • Reviews third party billing for all brokerage activity before it is invoiced.
  • Maintains brokerage customer files with appropriate documentation.
  • Works with Metafile to ensure accuracy of ship points and pallet counts.
  • Monitors PDI accounts payable records to keep track of freight income.
  • Assists in moving SKU’s.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
