About The Position

The Freight Broker position is responsible for providing freight brokerage services to customers, agents & carriers. This position brokers freight to qualified carriers by coordinating efficient and timely movements of freight shipments and maintaining optimal levels of service. This position’s primary focus is to ensure constant coverage and availability for customer freight that aligns with company policies and sales and service objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Word
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Skill to remain calm in stressful situation
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with others
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively pivot from one task through another and reprioritize throughout the day
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Build and foster relationships with agents and carriers
  • Communicate with agents to obtain available loads, book loads and provide updates on load status
  • Communicate with carriers inquiring about load details and available freight including follow up with carriers on load status
  • Identify and obtain coverage for truckload freight
  • Ensure loads are picked up and delivered successfully, including tracking shipments
  • Conduct follow-up on delivery status of loads
  • Establish relationships with shippers and collaborate to resolve any issues
  • Assist with delivery scheduling, including working with dispatchers
  • Assist with supporting documentation for billing issues
  • Maintain spreadsheet of covered and uncovered (open) loads for assignment tracking purposes
  • Conduct follow-up on accessorial charges and obtain documentation
  • Maintain relationships with other internal stakeholders to remain updated on pricing changes
