About The Position

Chicago Meat Authority (CMA) is a forward-thinking processor of value-added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling to the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and Multi-unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores. CMA also specializes in custom cuts for further processors including grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market. CMA is seeking Standup Forklift Drivers for our meat processing facility. Individuals must be willing to work in a cold environment.

Requirements

  • One year of recent standup forklift experience.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including Saturdays.
  • Perform all duties as required by supervisor.
  • Follow CMA policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a freezer (below 0 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • Required to wear all personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to think ahead and prepare for future orders.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and push up to 80 pounds depending on specific function being performed.
  • Ability to work with cold materials in a cold, humid environment.
  • Ability to crouch and bend repeatedly.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Follow all safety regulations and support others in working safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Meat processing and/or refrigerated manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use standup forklift to move pallets to various locations, including freezer room, cooler room, dry storage room, production room, and/or shipping docks for loading and unloading.
  • Utilize the first-in, first-out (FIFO) process.
  • Verify bill of lading (BOL) accuracy against received product.
  • Read fill rates to understand product being shipped.
  • Identify correct product by reading the fresh meat report, depending on location.
  • Use the RF scanner to scan product.
  • Complete verification documents for S&H.
  • Reconcile written paperwork with generated labels to ensure accuracy and balance.
  • Maintain an organized work area, ensuring clear pathways.
  • Complete inventory as scheduled.
  • Re-palletize product as needed.
  • Identify and report broken pallets/boxes to a supervisor.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is maintained.
