About The Position

The purpose of this position is to transfer product into and out of storage areas, pick product for customer orders, and load product to trailers. This role involves reading and interpreting Warehouse Management System (WMS) order instructions, recognizing and correcting potential process errors, and identifying and handling damaged product. The associate will accurately pull orders, stage them according to carrier location, and prepare necessary shipping and receiving documentation. Data entry into WMS computer systems is also a key responsibility. As a team member, the associate will participate in ongoing development of team concepts, programs, and policies, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues collaboratively. The role requires familiarity with Simmons' operating systems, including quality and security, and understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems. The position also involves performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years warehouse experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel).
  • Working knowledge of WMS systems.
  • 1 year related warehouse/freezer experience or 1 year experience with powered lift equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and apply Warehouse Management System (WMS) order instructions.
  • Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions adversely affect the customer.
  • Recognize damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action when discovered.
  • Pull orders accurately as assigned.
  • Stage orders according to carrier location and verify: number of pallets picked as well as stage location.
  • Prepare receiving, storage and shipping documentation retaining product accountability throughout the logistical process.
  • Enter data into WMS computer systems.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
