About The Position

We are seeking a punctual, detail-oriented individual to oversee the planning and execution of our Freestyle and Cross Team. This team focuses on developing the ski and snowboard skills necessary for competing in slopestyle, rail jam, and cross racing. This head coach role is expected to work with the Learning Center Director and Children’s Programs Manager to ensure smooth processes and successful program execution. The role includes planning that can be done remotely but this person is expected to be available every Saturday and Sunday from December through the end of March. Some weekends will be spent coaching at competitions held at other mountains. This role is mostly on snow and outdoors, but the person will be expected to help plan, help keep detailed records, organize (pre and post sessions), communicate with parents, and assist with athlete check-in or pick-up. This role is part of the Learning Center team and should be willing to help the team in any capacity, when needed.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work outside, for long periods of time, in any conditions.
  • Must be willing to commit to Saturdays and Sundays, onsite, from 7:30am to 2pm through program duration.
  • At least 5 years’ experience teaching.
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional ability to provide outstanding guest service.
  • Ability & comfort to help guide and advise a diverse team of coaches in their lesson plans, movement analysis, and teaching.
  • Strong communication skills (in-person, phone, email, etc.).
  • Strong leadership skills and organizational skills.
  • Enjoys planning and coordinating multi-week programs and working with children.
  • Accountability and timeliness.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for a PSIA/AASI/USSA/USASA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of the Freestyle and Cross Team.
  • Develop ski and snowboard skills for slopestyle, rail jam, and cross racing.
  • Work with the Learning Center Director and Children’s Programs Manager.
  • Plan program elements (can be done remotely).
  • Coach at competitions held at other mountains.
  • Help keep detailed records.
  • Organize pre and post sessions.
  • Communicate with parents.
  • Assist with athlete check-in or pick-up.
  • Assist the Learning Center team in any capacity when needed.
  • Assist pre-season with grouping of participants, including phone calls and evaluation of skiing/riding abilities.
  • Assist in coach selection and early season training of coaches.
  • Assist in pre-season planning and decision making for the program (online meetings, competition and travel schedule, procedure outlines, guest communication, etc.).
  • Communicate and coordinate to ensure a clear weekly plan.
  • Assist in leading pre-shift meetings.
  • Assist manager in scheduling and timekeeping for staff.
  • Visit groups throughout each session to assist and mentor coaches.
  • Assist with parent conversations and communication.
  • Maintain detailed program records.
