About The Position

The Franchise Owner Academy Program is an advanced, intensive, and highly experiential development journey designed to transform high-potential retail leaders into successful, high-performing Franchise Owners within Your Independent Grocer, a leading banner within Loblaw Companies Limited. This program offers an accelerated path to franchise ownership, providing unparalleled breadth of experience, comprehensive knowledge, and direct exposure to the diverse intricacies of multi-banner retail operations. It is ideal for individuals passionate about retail, possessing strong leadership capabilities, and aspiring to lead their own franchise.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in the grocery and/or retail sector
  • Proven ability to inspire, develop, and lead high-performing teams
  • A strong understanding of store operations, merchandising, and financial performance (P&L, budgeting, shrink, labour management)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in unionized or non-union environments
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial drive
  • Commitment to community engagement and values-driven leadership
  • Flexibility to travel across Canada frequently – up to 70% of the time
  • Willingness to relocate (within Canada) for franchise opportunities upon training completion
  • Franchise Ownership (following Academy Program completion) requires a personal investment of $50,000 readily available
  • Candidates who are 18 years or older are required to complete a criminal background check

  • Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager experience highly preferred
