About The Position

At Allegion, we help keep people safe and secure. We specialize in security around the doorway and beyond. The Frame Grinder operates power grinding machines to grind internal and external surfaces of metal frames to specification in preparation for the final painting process. This position emphasizes quality of workmanship, accountability, safety, and teamwork, aiming to get the job done right the first time.

Requirements

Ability to read and understand engineering documents and shop travelers.
Knowledge of grinding speeds.
Understanding of finished product characteristics.
Ability to mix and apply bondo to specifications.
1-2 years manufacturing experience.
Experience in a high volume, fast paced production environment.
Dexterous with manufacturing equipment, basic power tools and machinery.

Nice To Haves

Metalworking / Hollow Metal fabrication experience preferred.
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Support continuous improvements in safety, quality, 5S, and manufacturing processes.
Provide feedback to leadership to resolve quality issues or operational improvements.
Ensure the machine is always running.
Communicate any issues that prevent product flow.
Abide by all company rules and policies regarding safety and conduct, including the use and maintenance of company-provided PPE.
Embrace cross-training by being willing to learn other jobs or tasks within the facility.
Perform daily housekeeping to ensure the work area is always clean and organized.
Set up and operate power grinding tools and maintain continuous workflow through adherence of documented processes.
Assist with the daily PM schedule for machines, manuals, and procedures.
Perform first part inspections as well as in-process quality checks.
