About The Position

We are looking for an experienced and driven Frame Engineer in our Valdese, NC location. Who will be responsible for the design, development, and frame specifications for our upholstery furniture. This position will be an integral part of the product development team and report to the Director of Product Development. The Company: Shenandoah Furniture is a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation. Hooker Furnishings, in its 100th year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets. Shenandoah Furniture specializes in manufacturing quality upper-end transitional and modern upholstered furniture. Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience working in a furniture frame design and development role within the upholstery industry.
  • Proficient in Solid Edge and Auto CAD.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with people at a cross-functional level.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form to present information and respond to inquiries from employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Possess knowledge of industry standards, trends, regulations, and safety requirements related to furniture frame construction.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • B.S or A.A. degree in manufacturing or engineering discipline or comparable experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create drawings for upholstered hardwood/CNC frames using Solid Edge and AutoCAD.
  • Develop prototypes and collaborate with plant operations to produce and test prototype frames to ensure they meet quality and industry standards.
  • Approve frames for first production runs.
  • Stay informed and research market trends, technologies, and strategies in enhance frame quality, efficiency, and overall visual appeal.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, manufacturing, and engineering to integrate frames smoothly into the production process.
  • Create detailed drawings for poly specifications and handle all lifecycle management of the spec’s.
  • Use strong organization and documentation skills to record and maintain specifications, blueprints, and processes.
  • Modify existing frames to improve production efficiency and product quality.
  • Provide technical support and solutions to address production challenges.
