About The Position

Performs a series of operations, applying knowledge of metals and equipment to bend, form, hole punch and finish frames for assembly. This role requires accurate measurement skills, the ability to read and interpret various forms of measurements (fractional and decimal), and operate machinery to shape metal extrusions according to work orders and specifications. The position also involves visual inspection of finished parts for defects and maintaining a clean work area. Cross-training in other positions may be required.

Requirements

Previous experience using a measuring tape accurately is required.
Must be able to read and understand measurements in inches, including fractional measurements (such as 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, etc.).
Must understand decimal measurements and be able to work with both fractions and decimals.
Must be able to accurately apply measurements when reading work orders, drawings, and specifications.
The employee is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to work 10-hour days with most of the time being on your feet.
Must be able to work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperatures reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.
Must be able to work under time constraints and deadlines.
Must be able to work in a dusty environment.

Responsibilities

Performs operations to bend, form, hole punch, and finish frames for assembly.
Uses a measuring tape accurately to measure materials and verify finished dimensions.
Reads, understands, and works with fractional and decimal measurements, including converting between them.
Obtains materials to be shaped from stock, places and secures material to a table.
Sets up and operates a bender.
Verifies all measurements prior to bending, cutting, or punching material to ensure work meets required specifications.
Squares machinery to ensure bends are completed according to specifications.
Bends and cuts extrusions according to work order.
Ensures measurements are exact by checking drawings or orders.
Visually inspects items for defects, scratches, missing holes, or other problems.
Obtains specifications from various drawing books to ensure correct bend.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Undergoes cross-training in other positions as required by the company.
