About The Position

This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. Our capabilities in cybersecurity, network architecture, reverse engineering, software and hardware development uniquely enable us to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners. HII Mission Technologies Division (HII-MT) is seeking a FPGA Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dayton, Ohio. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing FPGA-based solutions for cutting-edge projects in various domains, including signal processing. This position is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio and is within a commutable distance from Beavercreek, Fairborn, Dayton, and Riverside.

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Position requires interest in either Radar or Electronic Warfare System design and/or testing.
  • Interest in EW and Radar Signal Processing Techniques, Sensor System Integration and Test, and Electronic Warfare and Radar Performance Analysis Tools such as MATLAB is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with advanced security checks
  • Secret clearance minimum to start

Nice To Haves

  • Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time. Deployment times will vary and typically last between two and three weeks.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able and willing to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
  • May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment.
  • Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Tasking includes RF chain analysis and radar system performance analysis, as well as all aspects of test execution.
  • Hands-on test, integration, and verification support across lab facilities requiring skills in algorithms, software, hardware, and networking.
  • Support technical publications in developing for customer releases test planning, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Support technical and functional leadership through the identification of risk.
