About The Position

The Effector Digital Products (EDP) department develops electronics for our weapon system products. We engage at the outset of the weapon system development and follow our designs through deployment. Our products are deployed all over the world, from the ground to exoatmospheric environments and into space. We are responsible for the architecture, design, and documentation of deliverable FPGA embedded processing at Raytheon. An Electrical Engineer I in the Effector Digital Products Department will develop FPGA designs for all major vendors and device families including: Xilinx, Intel, Microchip, and Lattice. Designs are implemented using VHDL and support the following type of applications: gigabit serial interfaces, Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) Digital Signal Processing (DSP), control loops, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
Demonstrated experience with digital design and VHDL or Verilog coding.
Familiarity with Xilinx, Altera or Microsemi/Microchip FPGAs.
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
Familiarity with the Linux environment and commands.
Expertise of Xilinx, Intel, Microchip or Lattice devices and tool flows.
Expertise in FPGA timing constraints and timing closure.
Digital signal processing as applied to FPGA devices.
Knowledge of C programming and scripting languages such as Perl and Python.
Knowledge of embedded systems design utilizing Microblaze, Nios, and ARM processors.

Responsibilities

Develop FPGA designs for all major vendors and device families including: Xilinx, Intel, Microchip, and Lattice.
Implement designs using VHDL for applications such as gigabit serial interfaces, Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) Digital Signal Processing (DSP), control loops, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces.
Work with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements, select parts, architect the device, perform code development, simulation, and place and route.
Verify designs against requirements using both directed test and constrained random methodologies.
Provide design support from requirements definition through integration and test, and eventually production.
Document designs and manage configurations throughout the entire design process.
