About The Position

The Melting Pourer is responsible for the safe and controlled operation of all ladle-related tasks, including the inspection and maintenance of ladle refractory. This role involves pouring hot molten metal from the ladle to sand molds, identifying the next heat to be poured, verifying mold counts, transferring metal to the AOD vessel, taking samples and temperatures from the ladle, and preparing ladles for the next heat. Requirements

High school diploma/GED
None (Experience)
None (Certifications/Licenses)
Good reading, writing, and verbal skill

Responsibilities

Rebuild Pouring Ladles per procedures for next heat
Sets the stopper rod in the ladle and checks for fit
Holds the transfer ladle steady with a long rod while the heat is being tapped from the furnace
Collects a sample of metal from the ladle to be analyzed by the lab
Rolls the ladle over to pour the molten metal into the AOD vessel
Pour molten metal from ladle to molds
Maintains the condition of the transfer ladle by chipping the solidified slag
Inspects ladle condition prior to and after use
Maintains Housekeeping to 6S standards and checklists for areas of responsibility
