The Foundry Manufacturing Engineer leads the development and optimization of foundry manufacturing process to improve product quality, cost efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.

Requirements

Working knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Working knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
Working knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Working knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
Working knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Working knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Nice To Haves

Foundry process experience related to molding, core make, melting/holding furnaces, iron pouring, and/or casting cleaning
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Six Sigma green belt certification

Responsibilities

Direct operations day-to-day process support of the molding line and post pouring operations
Continuous process improvement projects including process-related scrap and rework reduction
Support operations continuous improvement (CI cards) to achieve safety goals, capacity requirements, product cost and quality commitments
The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates with others
The position is challenged to quickly identify and utilize 6 sigma problem solving methodology resolving problems
