About The Position

RetentionX is seeking its first dedicated sales hire to build a new, relationship-led strategic sales motion for high-potential commerce brands. This role is for someone who can create demand through thoughtful account development, credible relationships, warm paths, field activity, and strategic conversations with serious buyers. The company has a strong product, an established customer base, and a working inbound motion, but this role focuses on building a proactive, strategic sales approach in a finite market where relationship quality is paramount.

Requirements

  • Sold to eCommerce, retail, DTC, commerce technology, MarTech, CRM, analytics, or adjacent buyers.
  • Proven ability to create deals from nothing, not just close inbound leads.
  • Comfortable selling to founders, CEOs, CMOs, Heads of eCommerce, Heads of Retention, and CRM/lifecycle leaders.
  • Excellent commercial judgment and ability to build trust before pushing for a close.
  • Autonomous, high-agency, and able to operate without an SDR team, large brand, or mature sales infrastructure.
  • Understanding that in a finite market, relationship quality matters more than activity volume.
  • Ability to run discovery, demo strategically, build a business case, negotiate, and close.

Responsibilities

  • Create and close net-new revenue from high-potential commerce brands.
  • Build a finite, strategic account universe and develop real relationships inside it.
  • Engage founders, CEOs, CMOs, Heads of eCommerce, Heads of Retention, CRM/lifecycle leaders, and relevant operators.
  • Run the full sales cycle from account selection and first conversation through discovery, business case, demo, negotiation, and close.
  • Use agencies, consultants, operators, customer referrals, and eCommerce ecosystem relationships as high-quality introduction paths into new-logo opportunities.
  • Develop a repeatable sales narrative around customer value, retention, LTV, growth opportunities, tracking/identity, workflows, and agentic execution.
  • Work with the CEO on strategic accounts, field strategy, pricing, and closing key opportunities.
  • Document the emerging sales playbook: ICP, account tiers, outreach principles, qualification criteria, demo flow, objections, buying triggers, and close process.
