Founding Design Engineer

About The Position

A pre-seed startup is building a personal AI agent that can complete everyday tasks for its users. The product is still being shaped, and this role combines product design and hands-on frontend engineering rather than maintaining an existing design system or implementing finished mockups. The Founding Design Engineer will decide how the product should work, design its experience, and build its interface across web and iOS. The role works closely with the founder and a small technical team. The engineer will turn early ideas into flows and prototypes in Figma, then build those flows using TypeScript, React, and Next.js. They will design interfaces that make the AI agent's activity, requests, and completed actions clear, and determine how users initiate, review, correct, and approve agent actions. They will also contribute to the iOS app using SwiftUI and establish the product's initial reusable components, interaction patterns, and visual standards. The position emphasizes rapid testing, feedback, and shipping working versions. The engineer will collaborate directly with the founder and engineers on product decisions. The role is on-site in Warsaw five days a week, and fluent Polish is required. Applicants should submit a CV and a portfolio, live product, or code examples, including at least one project where they handled both design and implementation.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated shipped work showing both product design and frontend engineering.
  • Experience building and shipping production interfaces with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
  • Experience designing product flows and high-fidelity interfaces in Figma.
  • At least one example of involvement in both the design and implementation of a feature or product.
  • Ability to work independently from an unclear idea to a tested, working interface.
  • Practical understanding of frontend fundamentals, including component architecture, responsive layouts, accessibility, API states, and performance.
  • Experience making product decisions rather than only following designs or tickets prepared by others.
  • A portfolio, live product, or code sample that clearly shows the candidate's contribution.
  • Fluent Polish for daily communication with the team.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Warsaw five days a week.
