About The Position

Worldwide Placement Limited, a recruitment agency, is hiring a Founding Applied AI Engineer for a startup building AI marketing agents. This is the company’s first senior AI hire, responsible for the quality and intelligence of multi-channel marketing agents from end to end. The engineer will work directly with the founder to shape agent architecture, evaluation systems, and learning loops, and will help build the AI team as the organization grows. The agents operate across SEO, content, social, and search channels. The role is on-site in San Francisco, California. US work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience building production ML or AI systems, including recent hands-on work shipping LLM products or agents.
• Proven experience designing evaluations and learning from outcome signals at scale in areas such as search, ranking, or recommendations.
• Strong TypeScript (Next.js) and Python proficiency for data analysis, evaluations, and model work; ability to ship end to end.
• Strong judgment about output quality and the ability to make it measurable and actionable.
• Ownership experience in a startup or small-team environment.
• US work authorization; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

• Search or ranking experience, particularly with Google or AI answer engines.
• Background from a leading AI lab or top research program.
• Marketing or go-to-market experience is a plus but not required.
• Experience with recommendation systems, algorithms, or reinforcement learning is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Improve agent output and content quality across Reddit, LinkedIn, X, and article writing, using evaluation systems that make quality measurable.
• Improve SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO) performance.
• Design feedback loops that allow agents to learn from real-world results and performance signals at scale.
• Improve AI infrastructure, agent architecture, model strategy, and supporting data pipelines.
• Hire and lead the AI team as the organization grows.
