Founding AI Engineer
About The Position
Mason AI is seeking a Founding AI Engineer to join their team and work on the frontier of agentic AI for the built environment. The role focuses on improving the accuracy of multimodal AI agents that check blueprints for buildability and safety, with applications in legal reasoning, spatial reasoning, and visual understanding. The work will directly impact the built environment in California and contribute to accelerating construction in the United States. The ideal candidate is either a Software Engineer passionate about ML/AI or a fast-prototyping ML Engineer who is mission-oriented, enjoys ownership, and has a curiosity for technical details like building codes and architectural diagrams.
Requirements
- Software Engineer passionate about growing as an ML/AI Engineer, OR a ML Engineer who's fast at prototyping.
- Ability to run experiments quickly and develop research taste.
- Mission-oriented and looking for life's work, caring about America's ability to build.
- Love ownership and don't mind ambiguity or unblocking yourself.
- Curiosity to digest building codes and architectural diagrams.
Responsibilities
- Improving the accuracy of multimodal agents that check blueprints for building code compliance (60%+ of time).
- Building autoresearch, improving evals, and running sweeps on new experimental features.
- Directing research work based on research taste.
- Talking to users and dogfooding the product weekly.
- Wearing hats as needed on topics such as running computer vision experiments, lightweight data engineering, building internal tooling, and improving the webapp.
