About The Position

THE FOUNDATIONS GRANT WRITER IS TASKED WITH MAINTAINING AND EXPANDING THE ORGANIZATION'S FUNDING FROM PRIVATE SECTOR GRANT-MAKING ORGANIZATIONS. THIS ROLE INVOLVES COMMUNITY CULTIVATION, STRATEGICALLY WRITING, PREPARING, AND SUBMITTING GRANT PROPOSALS AND REPORTS, CONDUCTING PROSPECT RESEARCH TO IDENTIFY VIABLE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES, AND DEVELOPING RELATIONSHIPS WITH PRIVATE AND CORPORATE FUNDERS. THE POSITION REQUIRES A HIGH DEGREE OF COMPLIANCE WITH GRANT REQUIREMENTS AND EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF SUBMISSION DEADLINES. IT IS A HYBRID ROLE, WITH SHARED OFFICE SPACE AVAILABLE ON THE COALITION CAMPUS, AND NECESSARY EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR REMOTE WORK PROVIDED BY THE COALITION.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, with a preference for degrees in fields related to writing or human services.
  • At least two years of experience as a grant writer, development professional, or in a similar writing-focused role.
  • Proficiency in the use of AI, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel), online conferencing tools (Skype, Webex, Zoom), and online grant management and submission portals.
  • Superior writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple proposal and report submissions monthly, ensuring continuous management of deadlines throughout the year.
  • Skilled in researching, identifying, and recommending funding opportunities tailored to specific organizational needs.
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with a diverse range of clients, including homeless individuals and families, to gather information for client stories.
  • Highly organized with excellent prioritizing skills, capable of working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • A high degree of discretion and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement an annual grants calendar to oversee proposal and reporting deadlines, funding outcomes, and organizational grant priorities.
  • Develop, prepare, and submit tailored grant proposals to private and corporate foundations.
  • Collaborate with the Government Grant Writer to ensure a consistent organizational voice, messaging strategy, and alignment across all grant submissions and funding initiatives.
  • Leverage AI tools in compliance with organizational policies and IT guidance to enhance research, analysis, and document-related workflows.
  • Coordinate with Coalition departments to support successful grant funding outcomes, facilitate required documentation, ensure timely fund deposits and reporting, and strengthen organizational grant management practices.
  • Evaluate program and agency compliance with grant requirements, exercising discretion and independent judgment in addressing discrepancies, compliance concerns, and reporting issues.
  • Prepare and present grant fund utilization reports in accordance with funder requirements, exercising discretion in the analysis and presentation of data and program outcomes to support organizational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with funder and agency contacts across departments, determining appropriate engagement approaches based on organizational priorities and funder interests.
  • Conduct advanced research and analysis to identify prospective grant funding sources, evaluate funding opportunities, and assess alignment with long-term organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Develop updates for the Coalition’s Central Florida Foundation profile and client stories for use in grant proposals, reports, and publications.
  • Manage online funder portal activity related to proposal and report submissions.
  • Regularly coordinate foundation grant success stories, funding impact updates, and organizational messaging with the Coalition’s Communication and Marketing Manager.
  • Manage complete, accurate, and organized paper and electronic grant records to support compliance, reporting accuracy, and audit readiness.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of organizational practices related to grant management and compliance, supporting broader operational and strategic objectives.
