About The Position

As an Academy Coach, you will have the overall responsibility for the continued development of a specific age group. You will be responsible for the delivery of the NYCFC coaching philosophy and managing Individual Development Plans for the players. You will lead the interdisciplinary team in achieving individual and team goals. It is important that you are willing and able to work together across departments and other age groups. You will be responsible for the development program of the team and individuals, working in a multidisciplinary environment. This role will be based in the Foundation Phase.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience coaching youth academy level.
• USSF ‘B or A’ license – minimum (required)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work multidisciplinary in the context of Soccer.
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of Microsoft office; PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
• Knowledge of tactical periodization and how to implement it.
• A growth mindset and willingness to join the team with enthusiasm and curiosity.
• Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC.

Responsibilities

• Create a learning environment that balances challenges and support for each individual player.
• Maximize the potential of every player through the delivery of the NYCFC game model and methodology.
• Deliver the content of all daily training sessions and match preparation, together with your staff.
• Work cooperatively with other Academy teams and staff and maintain relationships with appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
• Plan, deliver, and review coaching practices according to the NYCFC methodology, with an action-oriented attitude and a commitment to continual improvement.
• Work from a periodization model and conduct practice designs to enhance the learning and understanding of NYCFC's game model.
• Work with other Academy coaches to deliver one-to-one player development support through progressive Individual Development Plans, providing ongoing, specific, and actionable feedback.
• Understand and adhere to all Competition Guidelines in all entered competitions.
• Represent NYCFC in a positive manner while carrying out all required responsibilities.
• Support the continued development and matriculation of Academy players to progress through our system.
• Engage with, and ensure timely input into, all Academy platforms and software (Smartabase, Taka, etc.).
