About The Position

Develop a resource list for foster parents within their community, make presentations at recruitment initiatives and assist with foster home development. This position offers a per diem hybrid schedule and is based in Little Flower’s Brooklyn office. The role may require travel throughout New York City’s Five Boroughs. From time to time, this position requires work outside of normally scheduled working hours. Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a human services nonprofit supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals across New York City and Long Island since 1929. Our staff of more than 500 builds well-being by providing prevention services, foster care, residential treatment care, adoption services, programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and medical and mental health services.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required and at least one year of experience working in a related field.
  • Some experience with foster care and or adoption in NYC.
  • Willing to implement new strategies.
  • Able to provide supportive counseling/ mediation among other professionals.

Nice To Haves

  • MAPP training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Advocate on behalf of the resource parent, mediate between foster parent, agency, and other community organizations.
  • Assist new resource parents & kinship parents with learning their role as a foster parent.
  • Visit foster parents to provide support as needed.
  • Attend conferences as needed.
  • Assist with assessments, identifying needs of placements to achieve permanency.
  • Facilitate a foster parent support group and trainings.
  • Assist with coordinating all recognition ceremonies, luncheons, etc. for resource parents.
