About The Position

Foster Care Specialist will walk alongside foster parents and children to promote safety, stability, and well-being while helping placements thrive. This role involves supporting children and foster families through regular fieldwork, including home visits, court hearings, and Family Team Meetings. The specialist will also maintain accurate reports and documentation, collaborate with their team and supervisor, and advocate for children while pursuing professional growth through ongoing training and trauma-informed practices.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, education, or a related human services field REQUIRED.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of or training in Nebraska’s foster care system preferred.
• Prior experience managing foster care families preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support children and foster families through regular fieldwork, including home visits, court hearings, Family Team Meetings, and occasional transportation assistance.
• Maintain consistent communication with families and serve in on-call rotations.
• Complete required monthly reports, maintain organized digital and physical case records, and ensure timely submission of placement and incident reports.
• Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and cross-functional conversations.
• Apply trauma-informed practices and serve as a liaison to ensure children receive needed supports.
• Complete ongoing training to strengthen skills and effectiveness.
