About The Position

Foster Care Specialist – Methodist Home for Children
At Methodist Home for Children, we believe every child deserves a safe, loving, and permanent home. Our Foster Care Specialists are at the heart of this mission—walking alongside children, families of origin, and foster parents to provide the support, guidance, and advocacy needed to build brighter futures. We serve children from newborn to 18 years of age, working tirelessly to reunite them with their families whenever possible. When reunification isn’t an option, we help them find forever homes through adoption. And we make sure our foster parents feel prepared and supported with 30+ hours of training and ongoing guidance.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in mental health/human services, with child and family experience preferred.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.
• A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• A heart for children and families navigating life’s hardest challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide family-centered interventions to help children and families achieve their goals.
• Partner with foster families, birth families, and community resources to meet each child’s unique needs.
• Advocate for children in schools, courts, DSS, and mental health systems.
• Offer around-the-clock support (with backup available) when families need it most.
• Ensure detailed and timely documentation to keep services on track.
• Participate in the training and development of foster parents.
