About The Position

As a Foster Care Specialist, you will walk alongside foster parents and children to promote safety, stability, and well-being while helping placements thrive. This role involves supporting children and foster families through regular fieldwork, including home visits, attending court hearings and Family Team Meetings, assisting with transportation, participating in events, and maintaining consistent communication. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate reports and documentation, completing required monthly reports, keeping organized case records, and ensuring timely submission of all documentation. Collaboration with your team and supervisor is key, involving participation in regular supervision, team meetings, and cross-functional conversations. Additionally, you will advocate for children, apply trauma-informed practices, serve as a liaison for needed supports, and engage in ongoing training to enhance your skills and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, behavioral science, counseling, education, or a related human services field REQUIRED.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively.
  • Work well independently in the field.
  • Stay closely connected to a team.
  • Believe Christ-centered, trauma-informed care matters.
  • Show up in ways that are thoughtful, respectful, and supportive of children and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or training in Nebraska’s foster care system preferred.
  • Prior experience managing foster care families preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support children and foster families through regular fieldwork, including home visits, attending court hearings and Family Team Meetings, assisting with transportation when needed, participating in events, maintaining consistent communication with families, and serving in on-call rotations.
  • Maintain accurate reports and documentation, including completing required monthly reports, keeping organized digital and physical case records, and ensuring all documentation such as placement and incident reports are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with your team and supervisor by participating in regular supervision, team meetings, and cross-functional conversations that support alignment, problem-solving, and shared responsibility for children in care.
  • Advocate for children and continue professional growth by applying trauma-informed practices, serving as a liaison to ensure children receive needed supports, and completing ongoing training to strengthen your skills and effectiveness.
