Thompson, founded in 1886, is an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson's continuum of care encompasses prevention, mental health services, and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed, aiming to build resilience in clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. The Foster Care Coordinator in the South Carolina Foster Care department plays a critical role in ensuring the success and stability of foster placements by supporting both the youth and the caregivers. This role also helps increase visibility and awareness of the foster care program by assisting with administrative tasks, engaging in marketing and outreach efforts, and enhancing the program’s social media presence. A typical day involves conducting home visits, providing case management and support to foster families, coordinating services, managing documentation and compliance tasks, and collaborating with internal staff and community partners. The role may also involve developing content for outreach and engaging with the community to recruit and support new foster homes. Flexibility is key, as some evenings or weekends may be required based on family needs, events, or outreach opportunities. This position includes participation in an on-call weekend rotation to ensure 24/7 support and coverage for foster families in the Greenville area in case of emergencies or urgent needs.
