About The Position

Instrumental builds systems that capture and analyze millions of signals generated across complex assembly processes in advanced electronics manufacturing. Our AI technology enables engineers to discover failures, identify root causes, and deploy production controls to improve yield and product maturity. We are seeking a versatile Forward-Deployed Engineer to join our Customer Experience team. This role combines hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing with our AI technology to deliver impactful results to customers worldwide. You will be involved in executing equipment deployments, training Instrumental algorithms, leveraging our software for value delivery, and building relationships with customers and their manufacturing partners. This is an opportunity for someone passionate about improving electronics manufacturing who enjoys frequent travel to factories in North America and globally. The ideal candidate is multi-faceted, technically savvy, organized, and customer-oriented.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience in electronics manufacturing (engineering or operations, either on the "brand" or EMS side).
  • Understanding of factory environments, processes, and politics.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete missions and deliver results despite unforeseen or challenging circumstances.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer factory sites, primarily in North America, potentially up to 80% of the time, including evenings and weekends during peak periods.
  • Enjoy meeting and interacting with people; comfortable in a front-line role.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer factory sites, primarily in North America, to execute company-critical missions.
  • Set up and integrate physical equipment at customer sites.
  • Accelerate customer "time to value" by hand-tuning Instrumental algorithms and software.
  • Own mission success as the engineer on the ground, with support from the global team.
  • Build rapport and strong relationships with customer and factory stakeholders.
  • Leverage relationships to complete missions quickly and effectively.
  • Establish a strong technical and dependable reputation for yourself and Instrumental.
  • Become an expert in Instrumental’s software and technology, including non-customer-facing functionalities.
  • Identify how to maximize system performance through physical tweaks, adding training labels, or replicating customer tests.
  • Utilize an engineer's understanding of customer value derivation to achieve rapid results.
