Forward Deployed Engineer I (Remote, US)

Sayari
•$160,000 - $180,000•Remote

About The Position

Sayari’s customers use the Commercial World Model for risk screening, graph analytics, investigation workflows, and data integrations through APIs and feeds. As a Forward Deployed Engineer I, you own the technical outcome of customer deployments: scope problems with customers, validate solutions, implement and launch them, and support account health after go-live. The role works across a portfolio of accounts, rather than embedding with one customer, and involves working independently with direction rather than a prescribed script. You will document work so other engineers can take it up, and may contribute to Sayari’s agentic platform. The role combines customer-facing technical delivery with production engineering. Work includes implementing workflows and integrations, processing and delivering data products, supporting API endpoints and customer pipelines, monitoring deployments, creating dashboards, resolving issues, improving delivery playbooks and SOPs, and sharing recurring customer needs with core engineering. Travel and in-office time together account for 25–30%. The stated pay range is $160,000–$180,000 USD. Sayari describes itself as an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a client-facing technical role, such as forward deployed engineering, sales engineering, technical delivery, or technical consulting.
  • Production Python experience, including the Pandas data manipulation ecosystem.
  • Strong SQL skills, including writing and optimizing complex queries.
  • Hands-on experience integrating, testing, and supporting REST APIs.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing using Spark, BigQuery, or Snowflake, and pipeline orchestration using Airflow or similar.
  • Working knowledge of AWS or GCP.
  • Daily use of AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor or Claude, or similar tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical work to engineers, analysts, and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to solve problems amid ambiguity and quickly learn new technologies and tools.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field.
  • Self-directed approach, sound judgment in identifying gaps and tradeoffs, high standards for work quality, and accountability for deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building with LLM APIs for analytical or automation tasks.
  • Experience with containers such as Docker or Kubernetes and cloud deployment patterns.
  • Experience with BI and dashboarding tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Metabase.
  • Experience with graph data technologies and their query languages.
  • Exposure to machine learning, natural language processing, or entity resolution.
  • Experience in high-stakes domains such as AML and financial crime, supply chain risk, or national security.

Responsibilities

  • Run technical scoping and evaluation with customer teams, confirming Sayari fits their workflows before delivery begins.
  • Deploy risk screening, graph analytics, investigation workflows, and data integrations using APIs and feeds.
  • Write production Python and SQL to implement customer solutions.
  • Execute bulk data cuts and create formatted data products, including Parquet and CSV.
  • Set up and support API endpoints and onboard customer pipelines, including environment setup, data validation, and integration testing.
  • Monitor usage and pipeline status, build dashboards for customers and internal teams, and resolve issues proactively.
  • Follow and improve delivery playbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Document work clearly enough for another engineer to continue without a handoff call.
  • Bring recurring customer needs and field findings to core engineering.
  • Contribute to Sayari’s agentic platform.

Benefits

  • Limitless growth and learning opportunities.
