Forward Deployed AI Full Stack Engineer

Sapience AI Corporation•Seattle, WA
•$156,000 - $168,000

About The Position

Sapience AI is hiring an end-to-end engineer to build and deliver complete, member-facing experiences in customer environments. The role spans backend services, data pipelines and integrations, and the interfaces and workflows members use to search, act on, and share their community’s expertise. The engineer turns the MINERVA platform and COGENT architecture into solutions tailored to each community, owns delivery from problem definition through a running product, and works to ensure members adopt what is shipped. The role combines rapid deployment with maintainable, secure engineering. It includes integrating customer systems and the KO graph, applying COGENT reasoning and retrieval, keeping data current and searchable, and making permissions, provenance, and governance clear in the experience. The engineer instruments adoption, improves deployments using post-launch signals, and converts repeated customer work into reusable components and patterns that improve the core platform and future deployments. The engineer works with forward deployed sales and backend engineers, Applied AI, Product Design, customer teams, and core platform teams. They document and hand off solutions so customer teams can run and extend them, and provide customer success with the documentation needed for a clean transition. AI coding assistants and Sapience AI systems are used to accelerate delivery, while the engineer remains responsible for architecture, judgment, and quality. This is a customer-deployment engineering role, not solely a core-platform, design-only, backend-only, research, or throwaway-prototype role. Sapience AI describes itself as a collective intelligence platform for professional communities that connects expertise across CRMs, AMS platforms, knowledge bases, and other systems. The company emphasizes technology that elevates people, the value of expertise within communities, trust, and purpose-driven deployments. The position offers a base salary of $156,000–$168,000 plus early equity, along with health and wellness benefits.

Requirements

  • Five or more years building full stack applications in production.
  • Strong frontend skills with a modern framework, along with solid backend and data engineering skills.
  • Hands-on experience building with modern AI and ML systems, including LLMs and retrieval.
  • Track record of shipping complete, adopted products under real deadlines.
  • Comfort integrating third-party systems and APIs.
  • Care for security, permissions, and data protection across the stack.
  • Strong product instincts and attention to the member experience.
  • Full stack development across frontend, backend, and data.
  • Experience building member-facing AI experiences, retrieval, embeddings, and grounding AI behavior in trusted data.
  • Experience integrating enterprise systems, identity, and permissions; instrumenting adoption and iterating on live experiences; and engineering securely for sensitive community data.
  • TypeScript and JavaScript with a modern frontend framework such as React or similar.
  • Python or Node for backend services.
  • Experience with LLM orchestration and retrieval frameworks, vector and graph databases, REST and GraphQL APIs, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers, SQL and NoSQL data stores, and analytics and instrumentation tooling.
  • Prior full stack engineering at a software or AI company, ideally including customer-facing delivery.
  • Experience owning products end to end, from data to interface, and shipping experiences people adopt.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience deploying software at customer sites in a forward deployed model.
  • Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, and knowledge graphs.
  • Experience integrating CRM, AMS, or knowledge-platform systems.
  • Design sensibility and comfort collaborating closely with product design.
  • Exposure to agentic or neuro-symbolic AI systems.
  • Experience mentoring or setting patterns for other engineers.
  • Experience with Sapience AI’s MINERVA and COGENT interfaces; training is provided on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Build complete solutions for customer deployments, from backend services to member-facing interfaces.
  • Own delivery from identifying the problem through launching a running experience in the customer’s environment.
  • Ship quickly under deployment timelines while keeping solutions maintainable.
  • Build member-facing interfaces and workflows on MINERVA for searching, acting on, and sharing community expertise.
  • Design for adoption, fast time-to-value, and low friction; collaborate with Product Design on clear and trustworthy experiences.
  • Build services, pipelines, and integrations connecting customer systems and the KO graph.
  • Integrate deployment logic with COGENT reasoning and retrieval, and keep underlying data current, accurate, and searchable.
  • Implement access controls, permissions, and data handling so members see only authorized information.
  • Make governance and provenance visible, and meet customer security and privacy requirements across the stack.
  • Instrument member adoption and value, use post-launch signals to improve deployments, and share learnings with product and field teams.
  • Turn repeated deployment work into reusable components, templates, and patterns; contribute improvements to the core platform and keep the field team toolkit current.
  • Collaborate with forward deployed sales and backend engineers to deliver complete solutions.
  • Enable customer teams to run and extend the experience, and provide customer success with documentation for a clean handoff.
  • Use AI coding assistants and Sapience AI systems to accelerate delivery while retaining ownership of architecture, judgment, and quality.
