About The Position

The Formulator demonstrates initiative, works independently, and completes assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and on time. As appropriate the individual will train and mentor new formulators as well as participate in continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately.
  • Ability to complete production records, logs, and other required documentation accurately.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 55 pounds safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be comfortable using a computer tablet to perform data entry.
  • Commitment to following all safety, OSHA, GMP, and company policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or related field preferred.
  • Prior ERP System experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time and maintain reliable attendance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively, follow directions, and complete assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Understand and follow all applicable safety procedures, OSHA requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company policies.
  • Safely lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including all tools and equipment required for the job.
  • Formulate 15,000 to 18,000 pounds of product daily in accordance with GMPs, SOPs, and company standards.
  • Use the correct purchase order, lot, and control numbers for all ingredients.
  • Accurately complete batch cards, including the number of skids, oils, and pieces of material used in each seasoning batch.
  • Demonstrate initiative, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate basic reading comprehension and math skills.
  • Pull product samples as required.
  • Stage tickets onto pallets.
  • Follow First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory procedures.
  • Train and mentor incoming formulators.
  • Check and verify blend ingredients for accuracy in appearance and weight.
  • Accurately complete production reports and enter required information into the system.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of proper formulation sequencing, including adding granular ingredients before powders and whole or leafy materials last.
  • Maintain knowledge of ingredient codes.
  • Demonstrate competence in both the oil room and formulation room.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.
