About The Position

Libbey's Forming Operator Apprentice will perform all operational tasks safely in the production environment. The apprentice will develop a thorough understanding of forming machine operations and the glass-making process, validated by a series of written, oral interview, and on-machine testing assessments. A disciplined approach to performing tasks as defined by Libbey standards is expected to reduce variation in all processes. The apprentice will develop and apply a disciplined approach to problem-solving to drive continual improvement within all processes. An understanding and application of LEAN manufacturing methodology is required to drive continuous improvement in glass quality, cost reduction, and on-time delivery to customers. The apprentice must display behaviors, sound judgment, and professionalism consistent with Libbey’s Values and contribute to a culture based on teamwork and Continuous Improvement.

Requirements

• Successfully pass computerized assessments consisting of math, mechanical, reading, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to demonstrate ability to use mechanical tools in/around stationery and moving equipment.
• Successfully pass a series of written, oral, and on-machine assessments during training program.
• Availability to work any shift, days and evenings/overnights
• Four (4) year department commitment
• High School Diploma or GED required
