About The Position

The Forming Machine Mechanic is responsible for the repair and maintenance of forming machines, burnoff machines, and auxiliary equipment to ensure they remain operational. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, making necessary repairs, and assisting with both major and minor breakdowns. The mechanic will also be responsible for cleaning equipment, rebuilding components, and ensuring equipment is ready for job changes. Additionally, the role requires the ability to read and interpret various work guides, including verbal and written instructions, machine manuals, and blueprints. Maintaining quality housekeeping and good safety practices in the work area is essential.

Requirements

Must have own personal hand tools as designated by foreman.
Ability to read and interpret detail verbal instructions, written instructions, machine manuals, and average to complicated blueprints.
Reduce unscheduled downtime by eliminating controllable mechanical causes for breakdown.
Efficiently make job changes, repair and rebuild various types of forming machines and equip to specifications established by management.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the repair & maintenance on forming machines, burnoff machines, and auxiliary equipment to keep them operational.
Transport parts & equipment to & from furnace room as required for installation or repair.
Check all machines on the production line during the shift for preventative maintenance, including proper lubrication, making necessary repairs when possible & notifying supervision of repairs needed which can be made during job changes.
Clean equipment in spray booth and check for wear.
Rebuild takeouts and have equipment ready for job changes for H-28 & press machines, adjust transfers, takeouts & push ups.
Disassemble, repair and replace various types of forming machines, parts & equipment.
Assist with repairs on major and minor breakdowns such as bent stems, broken takeouts arms & jaws.
Remove and install equipment during job changes.
Assist on timing takeouts and transfers.
Connect hoses, plumb special equipment and cut or thread piping if necessary.
Look up part information on the computer.
Employee may be required to perform work in the shop at the direction of the supervision.
Make record of all work performed.
Maintain quality housekeeping & good safety practices in the work area.
Do other work as assigned by supervision.
